At Trekslist, we are dedicated to building the world’s best research and planning tools for the outdoor adventure community. Millions of long-distance hikers, divers, sailors, surfers, kayakers, and paragliding pilots will rely on the rich data and tools you develop for their detailed trip preparations.
As the Head of Engineering, you will be at the forefront of innovation, finding new ways to obtain, process, and present relevant planning data. Your work will involve public and private APIs, machine learning, AI, and application development. As one of our first employees, you will have the autonomy to build these solutions independently. As Trekslist grows, you will also be responsible for hiring and managing your own development team.
At the moment, we are looking for someone based in or close to Europe to ensure lots of overlap with the rest of the team. It’s also likely that in the beginning you will be working part-time (16-24 hrs / week) and increase to full-time as we scale operations (32-40 hrs/week). We also embrace diversity and "squiggly" career paths. We hire globally and work remotely from some of the most beautiful places in the world with good internet connection. We make our own hours, balancing work with other parts of ourselves. We go through constant trainings to become better at what we do, while expanding our professional networks. Yet, don't expect this to be just another job. We are starting a movement where we unite the outdoor community to make a real impact on reversing the climate change and global biodiversity loss - and you will be at the head of it.
